Conditions of Acceptance & Additional Information
1. Customer Declaration
By booking an appointment for your pet, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
At Balla Groom, we strive to make your pet’s experience as pleasant as possible. However, grooming can sometimes reveal previously hidden medical issues or exacerbate existing ones, which may occur during or after the grooming process.
Balla Groom is not responsible for any conditions or problems that may be discovered during grooming. While we take great care to ensure the safety of your pet, there is always a possibility of accidents, including but not limited to cuts, scratches, grazes, nicks, or quicking of nails. The utmost caution is exercised, but due to the nature of grooming and the behaviour of animals, incidents may occur.
We reserve the right to alter or halt grooming if we believe it is unsafe for your pet. Additionally, Balla Groom will not be held responsible for any accidental death of a pet resulting from a pre-existing condition.
2. Pricing
Please be aware this price list is a general guide and not an exhaustive list.
If your breed is not listed place contact Christine at Balla Groom for advice.
Prices are based on standard regular return groom and dogs which are generally well maintained and depends on coat condition and clip, or groom type required.
3. Alterations
Please check your pets groom at pick-up and let the staff know of any changes you would like. All grooms should be checked at collection to allow the team to rectify issues and make notes for future grooms. If you are dissatisfied or require alterations to your pets’ groom, please inform us within 48 hours. Any changes after this time frame may require a rewash and will be chargeable.
4. Additional costs
These may be applied and can vary, dependent on coat condition and behaviour type.
Anxious, aggressive or nervous dogs will need more careful handling. Consultation will always be provided beforehand. If you, as the pet owner are aware of any potential behavioural issues, please advise at time of booking so that additional time slot can be allocated, and preparation may be taken in advance.
In cases of severe behavioural issues make grooming unsafe for staff or stressful for the dog we we may advise calming medication may are requested from your vet. Where evidence of flea or worm infestation is discovered, a minimum additional charge of £10 will be applied. (See General Health below)
5. Missed & Cancelled appointments
We kindly request a 48-hour notice for any appointment cancellations. Cancellations made after this notice period will incur a charge of 50% of the original appointment cost, same day cancellations will require full payment of the original appointment. Missed appointments will require full payment of the original appointment before a new one can be scheduled. Please note that any pre-booked appointments will be cancelled if payment is not received. For clients with a history of missed appointments, full payment will be required upfront to secure future bookings. Cancellation fees are at the discretion of the groomer.
6. Photographs and Video Release Consent
Your pet may be photographed before, during or after its groom. Photographs may be used on the Balla Groom website and/or social media sites. Please inform us if you wish your pet not to be photographed.
7. GDPR
Under the GDPR regulations, all personal details that are entered into our digital diary system or online (via website, Facebook, Instagram and other online portals) will be kept securely and will not be used to contact you regarding anything other than relating to your pets grooming. Your data will not be shared outside of this business.
8. Condition of Your Pet’s Coat
It is a legal requirement that pets should be protected from pain, injury and suffering. Please note that in the case of matted coats these may have to be shaved closer to the skin to reduce discomfort to the dog. Continual attempts to detangle the coat is distressing for your pet. Prices are based on your dog coming on an 8 week interval or less, over this period your pet will need additional de-matting time which will incur a charge.
9. Wounds and Problems caused by Neglected or Matted Coats
Please be aware that badly matted dog coats can uncover skin irritations, abscesses, dermatitis, or parasites. De-matting periods will be kept to a minimum. Consultation will be provided, where necessary additional charge will be incurred for time.
In the event of any dog needing a shave down/clip off, the owner should be aware that irritation may occur from the shaving process, as well as uncovering nicks, cuts, or other potential problems.
The owner agrees that Balla Groom will not be held liable for any after-grooming effects of matt clipping procedures or problems uncovered by clipping off a badly matted, neglected coat. This could include, but is not limited to the following: itchiness, skin redness, irritations or abrasions however caused, aural haematomas, post groom furunculosis, pyoderma - superficial or deep and/or pyotraumatic dermatitis.
No dog will be subjected to stress or discomfort and all dogs will be groomed in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006. A shave-down can incur extra fees. We photograph and/or video every case of neglect brought into the salon for grooming, and we may also save a sample of fur. We reserve the right to use these items as we deem appropriate.
10. General Health and Skin or Food Allergies
Balla Groom strongly advise regular veterinary treatment of fleas and worm products. Where evidence of flea or worm infestation is discovered, a minimum additional charge of £10 will be applied. Although the salon is routinely sprayed with flea treatment it remains the owner's responsibility to prevent infestations.
Please advise Balla Groom is your pets has any allergies or skin sensitivities as this will impact the types of shampoo treatments to be applied to the skin.
As treats may be offered to your dog please advise if there is anything your dog should not eat to prevent stomach sensitivities.
11. Dangerous Dogs
The owner (or other responsible person) agrees to inform Balla Groom prior to booking and grooming if the dog has bitten or has aggressive tendencies.
Balla Groom reserves the right to muzzle your dog, ask you to muzzle your own dog, or refuse to groom your dog if it represents a danger to our staff or other dogs in the salon. Unless this has been discussed and agreed beforehand, we reserve the right to turn your dog away without grooming them, however the full starting price for your groom will still be charged.
12. Elderly Dogs
Elderly dogs can have arthritic joints or can be just generally a bit grumpier than younger dogs. Please advise at time of booking so that the appropriate time slot can be allocated to work at a careful pace.
13. Veterinary Treatment and Accidents
Every possible precaution is taken to keep your pet safe whist in our care. Balla Groom is covered by Public Liability insurance in case of loss or injury to your dog whilst in our care. Occasionally nicks and cuts may occur when using sharp scissors and clippers. If such an incident should occur, we will treat as per basic first aid and will advise you as the owner, so you are aware to keep an eye on your pet.
